Textbook Recycling Company is a small, independently owned company located in Troy, Idaho where the rolling fields known as the "Palouse" meet the beautiful, timbered Idaho backcountry. In business since 1997, we specialize in buying and selling new and used college textbooks as well as typical trade books.

What We Will Buy Back:

We buy back all kinds of books including textbooks, tradebooks and many instructor's editions!- check out the prices on our site. If it says we are accepting a book on our site we'll buy it as long as it is in good condition (see below).

What We Won't Buy Back:

Any books that are unacceptable (not in good condition)- these include any books that have more than 25% of the book highlighted or written in or have damage such as a loose binding, cover or pages entirely or partially torn off, mold damage, stuck pages, water damage of any kind, loose or missing pages, or pages with tape or other foreign materials stuck to them.

Any study guides, workbooks, lab manuals and other books that have blank answer fields with instructions to fill in the blanks must NOT be written in or have any markings, although the covers can show some wear.

Although it doesn't happen very often, we realize that sometimes books are sent in error and we do our very best to please our customers. We will often ship any unacceptable books back to you for the cost of shipping & handling.

They paid for the first couple, but then they started having all these excuses as to why they couldn't pay. The first couple I figured maybe I just hadn't noticed "missing pages" or whatever jargon they gave me. But, six buybacks later, I've only been paid for those first two. Not impressed. It isn't worth my time (and lost money) to sell to this vendor if they are going to randomly refuse payment on my books for reasons that I would NEVER send a book in for (missing pages??? are you serious?? I don't tear pages out of my textbooks.)

Shipping only takes a few days from where I live and I like that I can track it on the way. They are good about paying fast too. Definitely one of the better buyback companies out there in my opinion.

Very pleased. Would definitely recommend them to anyone.

I'm very careful with packing to not have any books shift at all when packed.
I won't use them again. I'll go with the company that pays the prices quoted.

I was very pleased with the service; I sent them over $400 worth of books and they paid me exactly what I was promised. Shipping label was through FedEx, and the books got there in two days. I also received about $230 the same day through paypal.

After three weeks, I called and was informed that 1) the books had never been delivered and there was nothing they could do, 2) they are in the process of changing from the post office to UPS because of SEVERAL missing orders, but 3) some how knew I didn't buy insurance on the package without me saying anything about it first. I got the feeling that they got my books just fine... If you use them, buy insurance no matter what the amount!!

I send in to pretty used books that I thought they would certainly deduct from the quoted price. To my surprise, they did not. I got the full quoted amount, and they even reimbursed for the insurance and tracking I put on the package. I was pleasantly surprised and I will definitely use them again.

I also purchased delivery confirmation so that I would know when they were delivered. I mailed these books on Saturday, they were delivered on Thursday. I chose PayPal as my payment, so they should have processed the payment in 1 business day. After 1 week of no payment, I emailed the customer service department. I provided the tracking # so they could see that the books were in face delivered. I recieved an e-mail back saying that the books were not delivered. WHAT A SCAM! I have filed a claim with the Idaho BBB.

Just beware that they're one of those sites that will *never* pay the price they quote for a book in "new" condition. I sent them eight brand new copies of a particular book, extremely carefully packed, and somehow they managed to grade all eight copies as "used".

Bottom line: an okay site, but make sure you only consider their "used" price when deciding where to sell your books.
